How to get a better webcam result before a call

A webcam can technically work and still look poor in a meeting. Use the live lighting, noise, sharpness and real FPS readings together: improve the room light first, check that the lens is clean and in focus, then use filters only for small visual adjustments. The comparison view is useful for checking natural versus mirrored framing or two camera setups without changing the rest of your workflow.

How can I test my webcam online without installing software?

Allow camera access when the browser asks. CamMicGo displays the live feed locally in your browser and measures resolution, real FPS, lighting, image noise and sharpness without requiring a desktop app.

Why does my webcam look grainy even when it works?

Visible grain is usually caused by low light. The camera raises gain to brighten the image, which also amplifies noise. Add soft light in front of you before increasing brightness with a filter.

Why is my webcam FPS lower than 30?

Low light, thermal limits, browser load, camera drivers and the selected resolution can all reduce the frames actually delivered. The Real FPS card measures what reaches the browser rather than only showing the camera request.

Should I use natural view or mirror view for video calls?

Mirror view feels familiar because it behaves like a mirror, but natural view is closer to what other participants receive. Compare both if you want to check text, logos, gestures or framing before joining a call.

What the test measures

The webcam test reports the video track exposed by your browser, including the negotiated resolution and live frame rate. CamMicGo also estimates scene brightness and image sharpness from small local video frames. These are practical diagnostic indicators, not laboratory camera measurements.

How to interpret FPS

A stable 30 fps is normally sufficient for calls. 60 fps can look smoother when the camera, browser and lighting support it. A falling or unstable frame rate can come from low light, USB bandwidth, another app using the camera, browser load or power-saving settings.

Privacy and limitations

The live video stays in the browser. Camera permissions and the exact settings visible to CamMicGo depend on the browser, operating system and camera driver. Some devices advertise modes that the browser does not ultimately negotiate.
